Canon Drive
Project Overview
Designed in 1962 by architect Bob Ray Offenhauser, the Canon Drive residence represents a period of residential architecture that rewards careful stewardship. The home's clean lines, open spatial logic, and connection to its surrounding landscape are qualities worth preserving. This philosophy guided every decision our team made throughout this full-scale renovation.
Set on an acre of lush grounds, the 3,300-square-foot mid-century contemporary underwent a complete systems-level transformation. The result is a home that performs to a thoroughly modern standard without losing any of the character Offenhauser gave it more than six decades ago.

Challenges:
Decades of use had taken a toll on the home's core infrastructure. The roofing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems all required complete replacement. It was a scope that carries significant logistical complexity on a property of this age and architectural significance.
The central challenge was executing that level of infrastructure work without disturbing the design language Offenhauser established. Mid-century contemporary architecture depends on restraint and precision.
Introducing modern systems carelessly can disrupt the proportions, wall planes, and material relationships that give a home like this its character. Every trade on this project had to work with that constraint in mind from day one.
Our Approach:
YAF Developments approached Canon Drive with the same methodology we apply to all architecturally significant renovations: infrastructure first, design integrity always. All major building systems were replaced in full, with routing and installation planned to remain invisible within the finished interior.
Once the system's work was complete, our team introduced a series of custom interior updates that enhanced the home's living spaces. A custom marble island kitchen anchors the main living area, designed with the proportions and material restraint that suit a mid-century home of this caliber.
Luxury bathroom buildouts introduced refined finishes and contemporary fixtures throughout. Parquet flooring was laid to reference the warmth and geometry characteristic of the era. Bespoke vanities were fabricated to fit each bathroom's specific dimensions and design context.
Every addition was considered against the original Offenhauser design. The finished home reads as a cohesive whole, modernized in every functional sense while remaining visually true to the period that produced it.
