This Santa Monica bungalow project explores a refined Spanish-Mediterranean architectural vision designed to elevate the character and presence of the existing property.

YAF reimagined the façade and exterior composition to introduce stronger symmetry, refined architectural detailing, and a more intentional entry sequence. The design emphasizes clean lines, balanced proportions, and modern Spanish-inspired elements while maintaining harmony with the surrounding Santa Monica landscape.

Challenges:

The original bungalow lacked architectural emphasis and visual balance. The façade felt flat, and the entry experience was underdefined. Exterior elements such as railings and finishes appeared dated, and the overall elevation did not reflect the potential of the property or its Santa Monica setting.

Maintaining the Spanish character while introducing a more modern and refined architectural language required thoughtful detailing and careful design coordination.

Solutions:

YAF Developments reimagined the exterior composition to create stronger symmetry and architectural hierarchy. Updated railings, refined deck framing, and a redesigned entry sequence add depth and definition to the façade.

Landscape improvements enhance sightlines toward the home, while refreshed exterior finishes complement the Spanish-Mediterranean style with a clean, contemporary feel.

The result is a design that elevates the property’s curb appeal while honoring its architectural roots.
